You've probably been asked this dozens of times, maybe even hundreds, by friends, family, and concerned boyfriends or spouses. They ask it with the best of intentions, but even still it can land like a bomb to a fragile psyche.

So what's the question?

"How many times have you tried to lose weight and get healthy but lost your resolve?"

Contrary to what social media may portray, 95% of people that try to lose weight  always end up gaining it back again.

In fact, it is extremely common for those who follow diets to gain back more weight, than they had initially lost (this used to be me).

I believe that the biggest obstacle that holds us all back, is that we know what we should do, but we have difficulty putting it into practice and maintaining the motivation.

I'm sure that you don't need me to tell you that eating more fruits and vegetables, exercising more, and eating fewer takeaways is good for your health. 

You KNOW this, but somewhere along the line, there is a disconnect.

So how do you break through the disconnect?

From knowing something, to actually putting it into action?

From starting a fitness plan to a complete lifestyle change?

And most importantly, how do you keep the momentum going?

Weight loss, if necessary, should come as a by-product of living a truly healthy, happy, active and fulfilling lifestyle. But that said, there is one tiny mistake that I used to make, and you probably are too.

If you've read my About page, then you probably know that this mistake kept me in a dangerous cycle of yo-yo dieting. 

What was that mistake?

I thought I knew everything! I followed every weight loss plan going, but I NEVER sort the help of a trained professional.

In short, I needed a personalised plan because having the expert assistance, accountability and external motivation of a trained professional by your side is a game changer.

And when I FINALLY got past my initial failures and learnt how to improve my health in the right way, my body and mental attitude changed overnight.

After all, I used to struggle to keep the weight off!

I believe that my struggle and my history as a professional dancer gives me a further understanding and empathy towards those struggling with their weight and overall body image. I know what it is like to look down and feel disdain towards your body and I do not want another woman ever to feel the same way as I did.

Since leaving the dance world behind and taking control of my health, I have continuously strived to update and expand my skills. I believe that all Personal Trainers should be open and honest about their expertise which is why I list my qualifications online:

As a trainer, I have a gentle yet firm approach and strive to get the best out of my clients through an active and consistent focus on the physical, mental and emotional aspects of a lifestyle change.

Now, one of the great things about being counted on to train numerous clients through an online platform such as the internet, and within my private Canberra studio, is my need for absolute meticulousness.

To teach in a clear, step-by-step manner that leaves absolutely NOTHING to chance.
